Month 2_Day 21 - Real Quick

I am still just mentally drained. Levi is still doing well. He is still on the cpap for now. He is being watched very close. They do not want him back on the vent. If needed he will go back to the non invasive mask for a little while to rest. Either way we are ok with it. We are so proud of him. His temp and heart rate have been up some today. Its hard to tell what is causing that. Its not a feverish temp so they are keeping the temp down in his bed to compensate. Otherwise things are staying about the same.

For my prayer warriors

Levi - Stay off of the vent. No infections. Reduced heart rate. Grow.

Trent & Anjie - Rest

Levi wearing another type of cpap. They try to switch him around so he doesnt scar up. Different mask have different pressure points.

Month 2_Day 20 - He Is

Jn. 3:27 A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven.

I was able to spend some time with Levi this morning. I don't often get to hang out with him by myself. During that time I meditated on some of God's promises. One thing that struck me was God's sovereignty over everything. We like to operate as if he is in our our pocket. In reality He is far larger than we could fathom with our little minds. He has given us such a blessing in the gift of Levi. We must give him the glory for Levi's progression. It is purely by his hand that Levi is being healed. It is purely by his hand we are being refined in our walks with Him.
Rev 4:8 "...Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. "

Levi is still doing great on the cpap. He is a little higher on his oxygen but thats to be understood. Its ok that he is rebounding a little. He is still tolerating his feedings. He will be getting protein added in now. Please pray that he will tolerate this. It tends to slow them down in the digestive process. He is almost done with his steroid course. This is good because his blood pressure is up.  This should also allow him to start growing more. Levi measured 1ft 2inches long tonight and weighed in at 2lbs 5.6oz.

For my prayer warriors

Levi - Work towards getting off of the cpap. No infections. tolerate feedings.

Trent & Anjie - Rest & peace

Month 2_Day 19 - Wow

I am worn out from a long week. Just a quick update. Levi had another big day. He transitioned to the cpap mask today. The vent got rolled out the room. I am trying to hold my joy in but its impossible. I want to be cautious because he can always take steps back. Lets pray thats not an issue. He has done great on the cpap so far. He also went up on his feedings again. I will keep you guys up to date over the weekend on his progression with the cpap.

Month 2_Day 18 - Into the Sea

Micah 7 19 He will again have compassion on us;
he will tread our iniquities underfoot.
You will cast all oure sins
into the depths of the sea.

Levi has chronic lungs from being on the ventilator for so long. As he grows the good new tissue will out weigh the bad over a long period of time. He will always probably have remnants of that. Eventually the hope is that it will not even effect him. Its hard to know right now. The neat thing is we don't have to worry about that when it comes to the good and bad in our lives. When God forgives us its for good. He tosses the bad out when we ask for it. He never brings it back to us. He never holds against us again. This is a beautiful idea to know. We cant possibly work our way into his favor. I know for me I would never make it. I am so thankful that He freely provides His grace to us.

Levi is still doing well. There was talk swirling around that he may be going to the cpap tomorrow if he continues on his progression. Lets pray that this is so. As of now he hasnt reacted adversely to any of the weening. He is still tolerating the feeding well.

For my prayer warriors

Levi - To get on the cpap. No infections. No swelling. tolerate feedings.

Trent & Anjie - Rest & Peace

Month 2_Day 17 - Yawn

The Lord has done great things for us! We are glad! Psalm 126:3
We just had a great night with Levi. We were able to spend extra time with him tonight. We got to give him a bath. This meant taking his hat and mask off. He did great the whole time. He seems so much more relaxed not having the tube in. God is just so good to us. He just knows when we need a lift and gives is to us in a timely manner. I am still tired but my spirits are lifted so much now. We have a beautiful little baby boy. He seems to be fighting more and more the longer he stays here with us. He also seems more alert to us now. He will open his big eyes and stare straight into us. Of course he probably can't see far but he knows we are there with him. We are so full of joy after having that contact time with him.

I also just want to thank all of you out there. We can't even think about "thank you" cards right now. We just need you all to know you are impacting this situation in a major way. You have prayed, sent us encouragement, visited and brought gifts. It keeps us lifted up in a way I can't quite express. Please accept this as our thanks for an amazing support structure that only God Himself can orchestrate.

As I stated Levi is still doing great. His blood gases and xray were good today. They will probably ween him on something tomorrow. They will either reduce his pressures or respiritory rate. This is a slow process because we dont want to trigger a backslide. He was increased on his fortifier again so he is getting his full amount of everything. He is resting really well most of the time. He is slowly growing. He hit almost 2 lbs 3oz tonight.

For my prayer warriors

Levi - To stay off of the vent. To get to the cpap. No infections. No swelling. Eat and grow.

Trent & Anjie - Peace

Month 2_Day 16 - Still Kicking Along

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD

I may have used this scripture before. I just feel like this is where we are at. Just trying to stay strong. Just trying to wait on Him to deliver us from this trial. We have no idea when this will happen. We have alot more days is all we really know. We have to stay strong. We have no choice but to wait on Him.

Levi is doing very well still. He is still requiring little oxygen. He has been increased on his feeds again a little bit. He is holding his weight and slowly gaining. This is a difficult time for us. We want him to just take off and grow up enough to get out of there. It doesnt work that way though. We need a ton of patience at this point. Levi is also getting an eye exam next week. This is making me a little anxious. I just want him to have good vision.

For my prayer warriors

Levi - To stay vent. Progress to cpap. No infections. Tolerate feeding.

Trent & Anjie - Patience

Month 2_Day 15 - Real Quick

Sorry for the lack of info tonight. I am worn down and the blog will not let me uplaod pictures for some reason. Levi had another great day. He didnt tolerate the formula last night so he is back on just breast milk. They took the helium off and reduced the resperitory rate a little. Levi handled it all well. I will try to get more info tomorrow.
